URGENT - HURRICANE IRENE PREPARATIONSBellerose Village Residents:
It appears that Hurricane "Irene" will arrive in our area on Saturday PM/Sunday AM with high winds and substantial rain.
I have conferred with Fire Commissioner Christ relative to emergency preparedness and he has advised me that all equipment is fueled, tested and ready. He also advised me that the volunteer fire staff has beenalerted and is fully prepared to meet the needs of our Village if adverse incidents or conditions result. It is at times like these that we can take comfort that we have dedicated neighbors who serve in the Fire Dept and who are truly neighbors who are willing to help their neighbors.
On an individual basis, please take precautions by securing all loose outdoor furniture and following the suggestions of the news media in preparing, should electrical service be disrupted.
A big concern is our trees which could be impacted by the predicted high winds. As far as possible, you should take care to avoid parking under trees in the streets or in the driveways. The train station parking lot should be considered if anyone is concerned about possible tree falls.
Along with the BVFD, I will be available throughout the storm to monitor conditions and evaluate needs.
